The Straw Mat Writers read on April 28th

Straw Mat is a group of four English Professors who challenge and inspire each other to write and to workshop original works that will ultimately compete in the public space of the publishing world. Their works, as varied as their membership, include poetry, non-fiction, fiction, art profiles, literary criticism, and drama. As a group, they have won numerous awards, including two pushcart nominations and a notable mention in the Best Essays. They have published nationally and internationally in academic and literary journals and anthologies such as The Atlantic, The Chattahoochee Review, American Transcendental Quarterly, Arts and Letters, and Feminist Formations. They have also produced short and long plays with local and national companies.
